Vintage Jell-O Frosting (from Joys of Jell-O)

Ingredients

• 2 egg whites
• 1 1/4 cups sugar
• 1 package Jell-O (3 oz, any flavor)
• Dash of salt
• 1/2 cup water
• 2 teaspoons corn syrup

Instructions

Directions

Combine all ingredients in the top of a double boiler and beat for about 1 minute until mixed.
Continue beating for 7 minutes over boiling water until stiff peaks form.
Remove from heat and use immediately.

Yields

Makes about 7 cups of frosting—enough for:

• 3 eight-inch layer cakes, or
• 30 cupcakes.
