1 cup dark brown sugar
3 slices bread (egg or cinnamon or croissants make it even better)
2 T butter
3/4 cup raisins or currants
3 eggs
2 cups milk
1/8 tsp salt
2 T white sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Add brown sugar to top of double broiler. Butter bread and then cut in 1 inch cubes. Top brown sugar mixture with bread cubes and raisins.Â
Beat eggs, vanilla, salt, milk and white sugar together. Pour egg mixture over bread cubes but do not stir.
Place over simmering water, cover and cook 1 hour.
Turn out onto a serving plate. The brown sugar will turn into a wonderful sauce.
